The 67-year-old credit union is ready to Rally.

NavyArmy Community Credit Union, an organization that serves over 215,000 members in South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley, officially announces its new name today: Rally Credit Union (RCU). “We’re excited to finally reveal the name publicly,” said Gerry Morrow, President/CEO of NavyArmy. “It’s been a long journey, and we’re so proud to share Rally with the world.”

Beginning in 2019, the NavyArmy executive team began working with marketing experts to understand current brand perceptions and identify growth opportunities. The efforts included focus groups with members, non-members and community stakeholders—as well as a vote by the Board of Directors—to select a name that reframes the credit union’s current brand and opens doors for potential members.

“When NavyArmy was formed in 1955, the name was perfect for members at the time: naval employees and their families,” said Bryan Stone, Chairman, Board of Directors. “Today, our membership has grown beyond those roots—and we need a name that sets us up for success well into the future.”

As of 2019, 24% of people polled assumed you have to be affiliated with the military to be a member. With Rally, the credit union is aiming to make an even clearer statement that if you live, work, worship or go to school in South Texas or the Rio Grande Valley, you’re eligible to be a member.

“Rally Credit Union is the perfect name for us because, just like always, we’ve got our members’ backs,” said Dana Sisk, Executive Vice President of NavyArmy. “That means going the extra mile to provide the resources and opportunities for members to make smart financial decisions. Wherever you are financially, you truly do belong with us here.”

Other than new signage in branches and updates to the website, members should expect business as usual. Debit cards and checks will all work with the existing name and will be issued with the new name as they expire or are reordered, respectively.
